Brand Intro
Titan Black are masters in the enhancement of the world’s finest timepieces. They specialise in working on Rolexes, applying a variety of modifications to bring you an outstanding creation whose rarity and allure speaks for itself. Not only is a Titan Black wristwatch already branded a masterpiece in its own right due to its legendary genetics, but on top of this, its superb black finish and customised features makes it patently exceptional.
Since 2009, Titan Black has developed their expertise in furnishing the world's most respected and foremost watch brands with an extra degree of rarity and personalised uniqueness.
The Challenge
Titan Black's key selling proposition revolves around customisation. But unfortunately, their 2D editor doesn't provide the level of experience that their discerning clients expect. It also doesn't reflect the true craftsmanship behind their products. Hence, ModularCx's main objective was to deliver realistic 3D rendering quality and all the customisation parameters possible in a friendly and fun UI/UX package.
The Solution
The demonstrator focused on their most popular item, the Rolex Submariner watch.
ModularCx chose a "free to customise" interface, which provides users with an open experience to freely customise their watch without predefined steps. All the customisation elements are fixed to the right, and the customisation parameters are displayed on the bottom panel.
The 3D modelling and optimisation work focused on delivering optimum balance for speed and realism, which was achieved through various optimisation processes to deliver a 700 kb model that performs well on all devices.
One of the most technically challenging feature was the engraving option on the back of the watch. ModularCx created a custom development that allows the user to input and display any engraving in real-time.
This project took 4 months to complete and went through several iterations until a satisfactory result was achieved.
